What Happens When I Die?

Life-After-Death-2There is a significant amount of confusion regarding what happens after death. The existence of life after death is a universal question. Job asked God, “If a man dies, will he live again?” (Job 14:14). Like Job, all of us have been challenged by this question. What exactly does the Bible say happens after we die? Does everyone go to the same place or do we go to different places? Is there really a heaven and hell?

Christ most certainly affirms there is an afterlife in a number of biblical passages. The Bible says there is not only life after death, but eternal life so glorious that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to earth to give us this gift of eternal life. Jesus took on the punishment that all of us deserve and sacrificed His life to pay the penalty for our sins: “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

Three days after His crucifixion, Jesus proved Himself victorious over death by rising from the grave: “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). The resurrection of Jesus is a well-documented event and is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Because Christ rose from the dead, we too can have faith that we will be resurrected. The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate proof of life after death.

Although all people will die, not everyone will go to heaven. A choice must be made by each of us in this life and this choice will determine our eternal destination. Those who have been made righteous by faith in Christ will have eternal life in heaven, but those who reject Christ will be sent to everlasting punishment in hell (Matthew 25:46). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires all men to turn from their ways so that they can live eternally with Him (Ezekiel 33:11).

One aspect of the afterlife worth noting is that there is no intermediate state for those who die; they go directly to their eternal destiny. For believers in Jesus Christ the Bible says after death their spirits are taken immediately to heaven because their sins are forgiven by having trusted Jesus as Savior (John 3:16-18, 36). For believers, death is to be “away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23).

On the contrary, for those who do not trust Jesus as Savior, death means everlasting punishment. Hell, like heaven, is not simply a state of existence, but a literal place. Luke 16:22-24 describes a rich man being tormented immediately after death: “I am in agony in this fire.”

The Bible devotes much less space to describing eternity than it does to convincing people that eternal life is available as a free gift from God. Most of the descriptions of eternity would be more accurately called hints, since they use terms and ideas from present experience to describe what we cannot fully grasp until we are there ourselves. These references hint at aspects of what our future will be like if we have accepted God’s gift of eternal life.

How can we receive eternal life in heaven and avoid eternal wrath from God? There is only one way—through faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible is clear on what determines our eternal destination—whether we have faith in Christ and trust Him to save us from our sins.

Salvation by faith in Christ sounds too easy for many people. They would rather think they have done something to save themselves. Their religion becomes one of self-effort that leads either to disappointment or pride, but finally to eternal death  Christ’s simple way is the only way and it alone leads to eternal life.  Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Will you trust Christ today?

  1. Thank you Joe. I noticed my e mails were going into spam. So I am trying to correct that today. Your explanation of heaven and hell is very well written. I wonder though if the unsaved understand that there is a heaven and a hell. Also if they did, they would certainly change
their minds about what is most important in their lives. Thank you!

      1. A friend just mentioned to me that she believes if she doesn’t confess her sins and dies, she will go to Purgatory to purify her soul. What is Purgatory and does the Bible say anything about this? I know we do not go to Purgatory, I am wondering where this concept came from. thanks lots!

        1. Hi Rita, according to Roman Catholicism, the souls of Christians who die burdened by venial sins are sent to purgatory, where they undergo a process of cleansing for those sins. It is unclear whether purgatory is a place or a state. The suffering in purgatory is necessary because the person has not made complete satisfaction for sins and is not ready to see God because of imperfection. The sufferings of those in purgatory vary in intensity and duration, depending upon the degree to which the baptized, but not fully cleansed Christian has sinned. The length of suffering in purgatory is determined by the person’s degree of sinfulness.

Regardless of the intensity or duration of one’s suffering, purgatory is temporary in nature, until the general resurrection of the dead, although individuals may be delivered from purgatory before then. This is accomplished through the actions of living Christians who perform good works on their behalf. Such works include the Mass, prayers (for the dead), and the giving of alms.

Catholics appeal to 2 Maccabeus 12:38–45 in the Apocrypha for support. The souls of the departed are purified by fire in purgatory, as suggested in 1 Corinthians 3:14–15, according to Catholic interpretation. However, the doctrine of purgatory is really formed from extra biblical tradition, not information in the Bible. In other words, purgatory does not exist.

          1. After I sent you that comment Joe, i took it one step further to send her your, ‘What happens after we die”… and she said it was interesting. I just don’t understand the hold that this church has on people’s thoughts. Knowing that she would not reach heaven when she dies; bothers me of course. but we all have to make choices. I sometimes think that the people who believe
those rituals and keep them, are too into the whole program..It is creepy to me, but all I
can do is pass on the information, and God determines what lies in their hearts.. …Thanks Joe, for giving me that information. I only know it is not in the Bible. God bless you and your family

  2. Reblogged this on Words of His Wisdom and commented:
This is a reminder of why we share the Word of God. None of us know the time or day of our end here on earth, so let’s be more agressive in sharing our faith in Jesus! (Thanks Joe, great post!)

  3. I think, Heaven would be the peace of mind, that one would not fear to die, lending all his destiny to God. Hell would be, on the other hand, fear to lose all his pleasure in life, without anyone to rely on.

    1. Hi bibuji, hope you are well. You have made some good comments! I am wondering if you are still exploring Christianity or if you have made a decision to trust Jesus as your personal Savior?

      1. Indeed I’m yet longing for the answer. Now I often talk to Jesus as I talk to a teacher of me. I found it good, that talking to him directly makes me feel his existence little by little.

  4. Life eternal. Choosing Jesus Christ leads us to living with Him in heavenly places. All other choices will lead to hell and eternal damnation.

  5. Hi Pastor Joe,

Thank you for your post. If I understand you right, then you believe that people are right know either enjoying the glory of heaven or burning in the fires of Hell, is that correct? If you believe that people are alive in heaven and watching the events of the world below do you think they are happy? Do you believe that people who have committed varying degrees of sin have been burning in this place called Hell, some of them for more the 6,000 years? My father died when I was 2 years old and if he were a good man then your teaching tells me he went to heaven where he has for the last 53 years of my life watched my suffering, (and the suffering of my brothers and sisters) and has been unable to do anything to stop it. Multiply that by thousands times ten thousands and thousands and thousands of people who have died in the past and went to heaven and have been watching the incredible sorrow and sadness of this world; tell me how could heaven be a place of joy and happiness? I believe that we serve a compassionate and loving Heavenly Father who allows all, good or bad, to rest in peace until He comes again, when He will bring with Him their reward. Rev. 22:12. See also Isaiah 40:10; Eccl. 9:5,6; John 11:11-14; (According to the words of Jesus spoken here, people rest in “sleep” until He calls them forth from the grave) and, 1Thess.4:15-18.

    Blessings, Patricia

    1. Thanks for writing, Patricia! I’m not sure if we understand each other. This is honestly a very difficult issue. Some hold that after death, everyone “sleeps” until the final judgment, after which everyone will be sent to heaven or hell. Others believe that at the moment of death, people are instantly judged and sent to their eternal destinations. Still others claim that when people die, their souls/spirits are sent to a “temporary” heaven or hell, to await their final resurrection, judgment, and eternal destination. Which is correct? Allow me to give a more detailed answer.

Regarding “soul sleep,” I think of passages such as 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, which describe believers being resurrected and given glorified bodies. While the souls/spirits of believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, the physical body remains in the grave “sleeping.” At the resurrection of believers, the physical body is resurrected, glorified, and then reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit will be the possession of believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21-22).

Death is the end of physical life through the separation of soul and body (Jas. 2:26). It is a reality for every member of the human race (Heb. 9:27). No one is exempt from death (Rom. 5:12). The body will die, but the soul lives forever (Matt. 10:28; Lk. 12:4-5). Death is the result of sin (Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:56). It is not annihilation for life continues on for believer and unbeliever alike after the physical death of the body (Lk. 16:19-31). When believers die, their souls go to Heaven (Lk. 16:19-31; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil 1:23); when unbelievers die, their souls go to Hell (Lk. 16:19-31; Rev. 20:11-15).

Unbelievers will continue in an eternal state of torment (Lk. 16:23). Hell is a total absence of the favor of God; an endless disturbance of life as a result of the complete domination of sin; anguish, despair, weeping, and gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12; 13:50; Mk. 9:43-44, 47-48; Lk. 16:23, 28; Rev. 14:10; 21:8). The expression “weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:12; 13:42, 50; 22:13; 24:51; 25:30; Luke 13:28) suggests both suffering and despair, implying a continued existence of suffering. Annihilation is denied; punishment continues for an endless duration. It appears there will be degrees of punishment in hell. This is generally acknowledged from Luke 12:47–48 where the slave who did not know his master’s will and did not do it will receive few floggings, whereas the slave who knew his master’s will but did not do it will receive many lashes. The Scriptures affirm the conscious existence of both the righteous and the wicked, after death, and prior to the resurrection. In the intermediate state the soul is without a body, yet this state is for the righteous a state of conscious joy, and for the wicked a state of conscious suffering.

Of the righteous, it is declared that:
      1. The soul of the believer, at its separation from the body, enters the presence of Christ (2 Cor. 5:1–8; Lk. 23:43; Jn. 14:3; 2 Tim. 4:18)
      2. The spirits of departed believers are with God (Heb. 12:23; Eccl. 12:7; Jn. 20:17; Lk. 23:43, 46)
      3. At death believers enter paradise (Lk. 23:42, 43; 2 Cor. 12:4; Rev. 2:7)
      4. Immediately after death, the believer’s state is greatly to be preferred to that of faithful and successful laborers for Christ here (Phil. 1:23)
      5. Departed saints are truly alive and conscious (Matt. 22:32; Lk. 16:22, 23:43; Jn. 11:26; Thess. 5:10; Rom. 8:10; Phil. 1:6)
      6. Believers are at rest and blessed (Rev. 6:9–11, 14:13).

The return of Christ has important implications for believers because it means the hope of bodily resurrection. David speaks of awakening in God’s presence (Ps. 17:15). Daniel describes the future resurrection as all people will be resurrected from the dust of the earth, some to enter into everlasting life, others to judgment and everlasting condemnation (Dan. 12:1–2). Jesus spoke words reminiscent of Daniel when He explained that the dead would hear the voice of Christ and come forth, some to a resurrection life, others to a resurrection judgment (John 5:28–29). Christ also promised eternal life to those believing in Him; they had the assurance that He would raise them from the dead (John 6:39–40, 44, 54). At the raising of Lazarus Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection, and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and every one who lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25–26). Paul cites the resurrection as foundational to the Christian faith. If the resurrection is not true then Christ has not been resurrected, faith is useless, and the sin problem remains unsolved (1 Cor. 15:17). The resurrection is explained in connection with the return of Christ (1 Thess. 4:16) and the New Testament climaxes with the announcement of the resurrection of the righteous, describing it as “the first resurrection” (Rev. 20:4–5).

Both believers and unbelievers alike will be judged at the Second Coming of Christ. First, the Bema Seat is the judgment for believers. This judgment takes place after the rapture of believers. Here, believers will be evaluated by the Lord to determine our degree of faithfulness to Him and the eternal rewards, or lack thereof, we have earned. The purpose of the judgment seat will be to recompense for deeds done in the body, whether good or worthless. Christ will judge or evaluate the way we lived our Christian lives and the quality of our service (1 Cor. 3:13; 2 Cor. 5:10). The question here is not whether we are Christians, but what kind of Christians we are. Christ’s Judgment will test the sincerity and quality of our lives. Each of us will give an individual account to God for what we have and have not done here on earth. Another aspect of the Judgment is to test the motivation behind our service. Christ will look at the spiritual fruit, or lack thereof, we have to offer and reward us accordingly (2 Cor. 5:10). The final aspect of Christ’s Judgment is to test our spiritual discipline and self-control. Christ will judge our thoughts, words, actions, desires, and dependability. Basically, our love for Him will be judged. Our works will be examined whether done by self-effort or whether done by God through the us. If our works do not endure, we are saved but receive no reward (1 Cor. 3:15); if our works are genuine, we are rewarded (1 Cor. 9:25; 1 Thess. 2:19; 2 Tim. 4:8; 1 Pet. 5:4; James 1:12).

Second, the Great White Throne Judgment is for unbelievers and is unrelated to the Bema Seat that pertains only to Christians. This judgment takes place after the Millennial kingdom. This is the final judgment where unrepentant sinners will “fall into the hands of the living God” (Heb. 10:31). The records of the unbelievers will render them guilty before God and unworthy of eternal life. All the unbelieving dead will be judged in the presence of God in that day. They will be condemned and cast into the lake of fire, their final abode (Rev. 20:15). The purpose of this judgment is to purge sin from the universe forever, to vindicate God’s perfect justice, to determine the degree of punishment unbelievers will receive in hell, and to reveal mans’ responsibility for sin once and for all.
The souls of all men will live forever in resurrected bodies in either heaven or hell. At the end of the Millennium the devil, the beast, and the false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire where “they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev. 20:10).

Believers will enjoy an eternal fellowship in Christ’s company (John 14:2). Heaven is pictured as a banqueting scene (Matt. 8:11), emphasizing the fellowship, relaxation, joy, and happiness in Christ’s presence. Believers’ eternal dwelling place will be the new heaven and the new earth (Isa. 65:17). John describes the new heaven and new earth in great detail (Rev. 21:1–22:5). The New Jerusalem is pictured as a holy city, coming down out of heaven; many understand that the New Jerusalem will hover over the earth. It is a literal city because it has measurements (Rev. 21:16). The brilliance of the Shekinah of God will illuminate the city (Rev. 21:9–11). The city itself will be secure (21:12–13); it measures fifteen hundred miles long, wide, and high with the throne of God at the top (21:15–18). The foundation stones are adorned with various kinds of precious stones (21:19–21). Above all, the blessing of the New Jerusalem will be that God will dwell in fellowship with man. There will be no need for a priest; believers will have direct access to God (21:22). Sorrow and the things that caused sorrow will be removed in the New Jerusalem (21:4,5). Christ will be central there, and believers will serve Him and enjoy His fellowship for all eternity (22:3–5).

      Hope this helps, Patricia!

      1. Hi Joe
Really enjoyed reading this part of your reply. Can you explain more about the Bema Seat? I don’t think I have heard of it before. Also can you explain more about the Great White Throne of Judgement?
Been praying that the Lord will lead you to the right job. For some reason, you now have two pointers towards two different Episcopalian churches looking for ministers.

        1. I’d be happy to! Just give me some time to type an answer.
Thank you for praying for me. I got a job editing a book a few days ago.

      2. Hi blodge (not sure if you want me to use your real name or not):

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). The Judgment Seat (Bema Seat) of Christ involves believers giving an account of their lives to Christ. The judgment does not determine salvation; that was determined by Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf (1 John 2:2) and our faith in Him (John 3:16). All of our sins are forgiven and we will never be condemned for them (Romans 8:1). We should not look at the Judgment Seat of Christ as God judging our sins, but rather as God rewarding us for our lives. Yes, as the Bible says, we will have to give an account of ourselves. Part of this is surely answering for the sins we committed. However, that is not going to be the primary focus at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

At the Judgment Seat, believers are rewarded based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5). Some of the things we might be judged on are how well we obeyed the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), how victorious we were over sin (Romans 6:1-4), and how well we controlled our tongues (James 3:1-9) among other things. The Bible speaks of believers receiving crowns for different things based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5). The various crowns are described in 2 Timothy 2:5, 2 Timothy 4:8, James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:4, and Revelation 2:10. James 1:12 is a good summary of how we should think about the Judgment Seat of Christ: “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
On the contrary, there is also a judgment for unbelievers called the Great White Throne Judgment. It is described in Revelation 20:11-15 and is the final judgment prior to the lost being cast into the lake of fire. We know from Revelation 20:7-15 that this judgment will take place after the millennium and after Satan, the beast, and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7-10). It is at this judgment when the dead will be “judged according to what they had done” (Revelation 20:12) and that “anyone’s name” that is not “found written in the book of life” will be “thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). The Bible is very clear that unbelievers are storing up wrath against themselves (Romans 2:5).

        Hope this helps!

    2. Hi Patricia. I read your question. And if you have a Student Bible Dictionary, you can look up things easier. You can find one at the second hand book stores, or order it online. There are many books about the bible, and everyone in the Bible that
can help us understand God, Heaven, the Apostles, The people in the Bible and
also Hell and Satan. God says we should not worry about these things. I know it
is hard not to worry, but sorrow and worry can lead to a deep sadness that overwhelms
the spirit. When we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, like it says in Romans 10:9-10, the Holy Spirit lives in us and shows us things we would not
know otherwise. He helps us change our ways and become new and born again
in God’s grace. We have an advocate with Him and Jesus Christ whom we
can pray to and ask questions. Believe it or not, but I am a witness to God’s
greatness and mercy. I was on the road in homelessness, and God lifted me
up, told me about His Son, Jesus Christ and now even though I don’t have
a lot of worldy good, I have my Lord, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who is
my comforter. They sooth my soul and they heal my body and they listen
to my prayers and they take care of my family and I am blessed beyond anything
here on earth. I have my family and I have the love of Jesus Christ who will
be waiting for me when I die. The library has Christian books also, and they
can help you find a way to begin your search. Search and you will find…

  6. I think this is a good reply to copy and keep. Should anyone ask, I have it ready to send.

  7. Well put Joe.
Something that really strikes me about what the Bible has to say about life after death (particularly in the New Testament) is that it actually starts here and now – the day we accept Jesus as King (2 Cor 5:17, cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15). So its actually THIS life and how we live it that the Bible focuses on most.

  8. This is another well-thought-out post. Humans are curious creatures and we want to understand what we don’t know. The scriptures you reference help to strengthen faith in what awaits us after this life is over.

  9. I have chosen Jesus Christ as my Savior for various other reasons, besides what was stated.

However, when I envision Hell, I do not envision the fire and brimstone sort of Hell. I imagine it to be an area devoid of love, which is cold and dark. Being away from God strips Hell of warmth that is ever present in the Love that He extends upon us. It is quite comparable to Dante’s “Inferno,” I’d imagine. Hell would be devoid of the heat and thus, be an area devoid of life, warmth, and thus, being a cold and icy area. The punishment would befit the crime or sin that was committed.

    1. Thanks for joining the conversation, Amanda! I have never read that description of hell in the Bible. How did you reach your conclusion?

      1. I do not say that my interpretation is right in any way shape or form, but I am learning, and learning to adapt as new knowledge becomes more apparent to me through research of the Word of our Lord.

        Isaiah 42:16:
“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

Darkness is compared to a state of light. Lightness is made apparent when the rough parts of the being are made smooth. We are not forsaken if we trust in the Lord. As we move away from our state of darkness, we move into light.

Darkness is cold and icy; it is away from the warmth and eternal Love that extends from God. When I envision Love, especially as it extends from the Father, I envision it to be all-consuming, where boundaries are unnecessary for the entirety of our beings to feel this Love. Love starts from the source and exponentially grows and touches everything. Ice and darkness cannot do this as great of a magnitude. Icy is stagnant; it is dry; it is cold. The light gives life, love, and eternal bliss.

Here are a few more quotations that show the lightness that the Lord brings into our lives from our own sinful nature:

        Isaiah 60:19
“The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.”

        Micah 7:9:
“Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the LORD’s wrath, until he pleads my case and establishes my right. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his righteousness.”

  10. Excellent post! The part of where you speak about Lazarus and the rich man reminded me of a dream I had several years ago that I will post for you to read.

The Story of Lazarus and the Rich Man

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. “And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. “Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. “In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. “And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ “But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. ‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ “And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house– for I have five brothers–in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ “But Abraham *said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ “But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ “But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
    (Luke 16:19-31 NASB)

I had the preceding passage of scripture shown to me as I was waking up the Morning of May 31, 2010. I saw the Bible held open to this passage of scripture.

The 2 people that Jesus talks about here are actual people and to my knowledge is the ony place in the Gospel parables where Jesus mentions someone by name. One of the people is simply known as, “a certain rich man”, while the other, a beggar, is known by Jesus as Lazarus. They both suffer the same fate that is common to all men which is death. However, after death is where the differences are.

    1. Lazarus is known by his name, in heaven you have an identity, and carried by God’s angels into Abraham’s bosom.
    2. The rich man is not known by his name but by his sin, his identity in hell for all eternity, and lifestyle and is buried.
    3. The rich man realizes he is in hell and why he is there.
    4. The rich man recognizes Lazarus
    5. The rich man has concern for his brothers but is powerless to do anything about their condition and knows that if they don’t change, they will end up where he is.
    6. In heaven you cannot sin and in hell, you can’t repent
    7. In heaven you have no past and in hell you have no future

  11. “Eternal,” as I understand it, has to do with God and Jesus, not time and not exclusively with the afterlife. So “eternal life” is knowing God via Jesus. So, to be technical, eternal life in the afterlife is Heaven. Hell is everlasting, not eternal.

    1. Scripture supports your understanding. “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent”. (Joh 17:3 NIV)

    1. Thank you, my friend. The parable of the prodigal son is my favorite! (I am also a prodigal son).

  12. Thanks again, Joe. While you hint at it, one of the strong statements in the Bible about immediate entry into eternity with God is “Then he [the thief] said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom.”
Jesus said to him, “I can guarantee this truth: Today you will be with me in paradise.”
    Luke 23:42-43 (God’s Word).
While a day is like a thousand years to God (2 Peter 3:8) I do not accept that Jesus would play mind games with the man under those conditions. So I take it to mean right now.
And as noted in the comments, the Kingdom of Heaven starts here, for saying Yes to Jesus brings us heavenly peace.

  13. Such a good article, and many good comments as well! So many of us need the clear message of the gospel spoken in ways we can understand it. After all, that’s the way God, through Christ, delivered it to us…Keep ministering, Joe!

    1. Thank you, Steve. I think overcomplicating the message of Christ is not helpful to anyone. Blessings to you, my brother!

  14. Thank you for sharing your faith here. I made a recommitted to follow God last fall and have been growing in my spiritual walk and am looking forward to following your blog:)

  15. Reblogged this on A Quest in Faith and commented:
Joe Quatrone Jr. simplistically formats knowledge in a “Q&A” manner as to effectively address various questions that many Christians (and those curious about Christianity) have about various concepts throughout the Bible. He does an exceptional job at supporting his claims with direct quotations from the Bible. His interpretations are simple, and not complex, as to allow for all sorts of people to comprehend the Word in the easiest of terms.

I am hoping to have a guest “Q&A” session with him featured on my blog sometime within this year.

Please check out his blog at: https://joequatronejr.wordpress.com

    God bless!

  16. Thanks Joe! This is a great explanation! I am so thankful for the day Jesus called me to himself and hearing I responded by faith! It may be 32 years ago now but I remember it like it was yesterday!

  17. That’s a really great explanation. Many people muddy the waters by getting too theological and that generally helps people MIS-understand. I also wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog. I’m glad you enjoyed “Rightly Dividing the Bible.” I read your profile and it reads exactly what I’ve been living the past few years. It sounds like we’re both getting our seminary training “old school” style so to speak. You can’t beat real world experience.

  18. Hi Joe, I found out you are a Preacher, do you have a church? if so it’s a big commitment but no doubt a rewarding one for you and your wife.

Your message has much Truth, we cannot earn our Salvation but we will show we have it by True heart repentance . I agree Joe there is no in between place, we go to Heaven or Hell, I did write about Judgment day but I will just leave a link as it is very detailed.

    Blog Post – http://freedomborn.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/judgment-day/

We know Jesus will come for us an that there is only Joy in Heaven and the Scriptures also tells us we won’t remember the things of earth, which is wonderful because to know someone we Loved went to Hell would cause us much suffering and there is none in Heaven. We also don’t eat or Marry but have spiritual nourishment in abundance, no wonder we will be full of Joy all the time.

We also know because Children are not under judgment until they are of a age to understand good from evil and because Jesus also tells us, Heaven has many Children, sadly a lot are murdered today by Abortion and in the Old Testament times, by being sacrificed to Pagan god’s but wonderfully they have only known Joy and do not remember what they suffered and it will be the same for us.

Thank you again for your message Joe and it’s nice to know a little more about you.

Christian Love from us both – Anne.

    1. I thought that the scriptures tell us we will meet our loved ones in heaven. i would not like not being able to see my children and grandchildren in heaven…I am sure I have read that. I will look it up.

      1. Aslo, where does it say we don’t eat in heaven? I would think we would eat the same food Jesus ate when he was on earth and have an abundance of fruit trees.

      2. Lord Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples shortly before His crucifixion, He referred to eating and drinking in the kingdom. “Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God’ ” (Mark 14:25). The earthly millennial kingdom is certainly in view here, and in that kingdom all who are His followers will have already received their resurrection bodies. It would appear from this statement that we, in our glorified bodies, will eat and drink in the millennial kingdom. But what about the heavenly kingdom?

      3. “And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:49, 53). Many people recognized Jesus after His resurrection (John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15:4-7). If Jesus was recognizable in His glorified body, we also will be recognizable in our glorified bodies. Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious aspect of heaven, but heaven is far more about God, and far less about us. What a pleasure it will be to be reunited with our loved ones and worship God with them for all eternity.

      4. hi rita,….your questions will keep joe on his toes today!!!! lol,…..in a good way!!!!

this is the first time that i have ever brought this up to ANYONE!!!! anyone other than my very closest of friends!!!! what IS THIS???? what am i speaking of????

have you ever heard the stories of people who have had “near death” experiences???? I AM “NOT” ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE………….have you ever heard of those WHO HAVE DIED,….AND THEN “CAME BACK???” one of “those” people,….IS WHO I AM.

where do we go when we die, someone asked??? was it you who asked this, rita???

WHERE WE GO,….IS TO, NOT A “PLACE”,…BUT TO A “SENSE OF BEING, A SENSE OF ABSOLUTE WHOLENESS,…AND WARMTH,………….could this be called a “place???” yes,…it could. in america, we have “states.” correct??? there are also “states” of existence. of, “states” of being…………do you follow???

where i went, can be described simply as this…..I WENT INTO THE HEART OF PURE LOVE.

when you go “there”,…to “this place”,….you DO NOT WANT TO RETURN!!! when i returned, i begged God to take me back where i was!!! not because i couldn’t handle this life, my life, in this world,….BUT BECAUSE THE SENSE OF LOSS AND SEPARATION FROM THE LOVE “WHERE I EXISTED” WAS UNBEARABLE…………….i’m gonna ponder some thoughts now,…

        toklater…………

      5. I do not ignore comments Rita or delete them as some do because they don’t have the conformation of Scripture to refute God’s Truth in them or to confirm their own understanding or what they have been taught, but I would appreciate you using my name in future if you wish me to reply and you can also e-mail me, my address is in my About.

I agree Rita, we will be reunited with our Children in Heaven who died before they knew right from wrong and we will also be with those who do and our family and friends who have been Born again of God’s seed 1John 3:9 being one in Christ Jesus but as I shared, if they have rejected Him as an unbeliever or wilfully even after knowing Him, they will not be in Heaven but we won’t know they are not there, for the reasons I mentioned one being we would be in sorrow and there is none in Heaven.

Isaiah 65 17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The early Church met every day of the week not just Saturday or Sunday and they broke bread and worshiped together and they also went to the Temple everyday to hear the Scriptures read they were the firstfruits in Christ Jesus.

The fruit mentioned in Luke 22:18 is not the fruit you eat, in the Greek it means offspring, Jesus is The Vine and we are His fruit, the Children of the Kingdom of God is within each one of us and when we are Born again, Jesus rises in our hearts and we are one in The Spirit with Him and share in the Banqueting table which is Spiritual food not earthly.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. N.K.J.V

1 Corinthians 6:12-14 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. N.K.J.V

Mark 12:24-26 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the Power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in Heaven.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne

      6. Hi John and Freedomborn! When we talk about heaven, it is a mystery. God has not revealed all His mysteries. Scripture shows us that there are many heavens. God has not given us exact promises. The comment I made was concerning those we might see in heaven. I am a born again christian. I know what God requires of us to go to heaven. I know what the fruit of the spirit is. I have studied the bible, but a person could study for a lifetime and still not know all of God’s plans for us. Read this. The Bible is not specific, but it seems that we will be able to eat. John, in Revelation 22:2, writes of his vision of the eternal state where he saw that “in the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month.”

    2. Hi Anne, sorry I did not reply sooner!

To answer your earlier question: I am a former Financial Advisor, Counselor, and Youth Pastor among other things. I have been married for nine years and have two children, ages one and six. I am passionate about reaching people for Christ and making disciples.

To answer this question: I do not have a church at the moment, but am seeking a pastorate. I desire to pastor a church that is evangelical in theology, dedicated to growing in faith and fellowship, and embraces contemporary worship. Do you know any churches that fit this description and are in need of a pastor?

      1. Hi Pastor John, I live in Queensland, Australia a bit far for you to come for sure but to me God’s real Church is in the hearts of all His Redeemed Children from all around the world in every Denomination and house Church and even those who have left Churches feeling unwanted and unloved, who were burdened down with rules and regulations or felt inadequate after being criticised for their weaknesses and shortcomings, some too have not been able to express their doubts or have their questions answered or have not been appreciated as being a person of worth, some have left Cults and feel very confused but are searching etc .

Sounds like all those who visit your Blog Pastor John and leave comments or the hundreds that click on and follow you daily even if they don’t leave one, each is a person of worth in God’s eyes or Jesus would not have died for them, some are searching with all their heart for answers, so they have something to hold onto in this life and so it makes sense to them, some are needing and wanting desperately Love and acceptance, some God has sent to you to encourage and uplift you, some to help you in your Ministry and gifting, and some to Lovingly rebuke or correct you, yes and sadly some will come with itching ears wanting you to confirm the wrong they do and say is right, all in the name of tolerance of course and some come because they like you and you have touched their heart.

Wow you do indeed have a needy Congregation Pastor John, God bless you greatly as you Shepherd it, as for your needs, God’s work done in His way never lacks His supply, please let us know if you need help in anyway, as part of your Blog Congregation at this time in the Body of Christ and because we have chosen Pastor John to sit under your Leadership and teaching , as you also sit under Jesus Christ’s who is The Head of the Body and submit to His Authority, Leadership and Teaching, we want to support you in what ever way is needed.

Christian Love from both of us Ron and Anne.

        1. Thank you for this uplifting comment! I think you are speaking to me. I’m not sure. My name is Joe, not John. Joe is the author of this blog; John is a faithful follower. Sorry for the confusion. Who are you speaking to?

      2. I am unsure of which denomination you are, but the Episcopalian Church that I attend is currently looking for a rector. Our rector is leaving due to becoming the Bishop of New Hampshire. It is just the passing of information.

      3. in comment to what freedom born has written,…I THINK THAT YOU TYPO’ED JUST A “FEW” TIMES,……I THINK YOU MEAN TO SAY “PASTOR JOE??????????????” (not, john????????)

      4. Hi Pastor Joe, please forgive me and yes I did mean you, Johndoe has also been on my mind and in my Prayers, I’m waiting for his doors? perhaps that was why I mixed up your names, just as well I didn’t call you Rita with her also being part of our Blog Congregation and on my mind too. I also apologise for not reading your profile till later, my question was not really needed.

To be honest Pastor Joe I have trouble following long Blog threads and at times do get names mixed up, it is part of my being Dyslectic, thankfully this shortcoming also has wonderful blessings, God always compensates, but it can be confusing for others, normally after writing and also before, I check names, spelling etc but I was distracted this morning, I am indeed a cracked vessel, thankfully God is the Super Glue.

        Christian Love – Anne

  19. Hi John, Unless the bible tells us that we can have a partial revelation of heaven when we die, I cannot go by witnesses who say they died and saw heaven and then came back to life. Do you have scripture on this. I am bound by faith to search the scriptures for answers, and so when I read your e mail, I wanted to know where to look for proof of life after death experiences. Maybe we could site Lazarus, but I think that is a different case. God is in control of all things. If God wanted to give you a heavenly picture, to increase your faith, then that is for you. People who have not experienced this sort of vision, have in some cases been given them by God for a reason. What those reasons are, only God knows. There are many things in life that mere humans do not understand and never will. Our brains are conditioned to the world we live in and what is revealed to us by God. If this experience increased your faith and gave you a closer relationship to God, and the Holy Trinity, then it is a blessing. You should go into ministry and become what God has designed for you to do. It is never too late to learn about our mission and our gifts and to ask God what His will is for us while we live. Thanks John, I enjoy reading your comments.

    1. HI RITA,…as for lazurus,…he was still under the time of the old covenant…..as for eating in heaven??? if this were so,…perhaps they will have a lot of porta-johns there as well??? jus sayin. the apostle paul tells us that our physical bodies rot. and turn to dust. we are given a “celestial” body,….a “spiritual” body,….our sinful flesh has no place in a spiritual place.

when i read many of the things that you have written,…i think of nicodemus. we must understand that we must distinguish between “earthly” things,…and “spiritual” things,……nicodemus clearly had a problem with understanding this. he was “trying” to see Godly things,…through a “human” mind and way of thinking…….you’ll find nicodemus’ conversation with jesus in john chapter 3……..

      1. Hi John, I apologise to you too, as I explained to Pastor Joe, I’m Dyslestic and do mix things up at times, thank you for also correcting me.

God Bless you greatly as you also share His Truth in words and actions.

        Christian Love Anne.

    2. hi rita,..as for what job had to say concerning your question???? why is it that so many of us want to ignore what jesus, our savior, has to say to us????

Mark 12:24-26 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the Power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in Heaven.

      1. John, I looked up scripture in Revelation. This is where we learn about our heavenly places and where we go when we die. In Revelation 19:10, it sasy (fell down at His feet), and in Revelation 19:12, it says he saw him with his eyes. Revelation also talks about the robes and armies arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, and followed in white horses in Revelation 19:44. 19:16 says (on His Roves and on His thigh, he has a name inscribed.)
John writes in Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, great and small STANDING before the throne and the books were opened.” Revelation 22:4 says “They shall SEE His FACE and His name shall be on their foreheads.”

NOTES on Revelation 20:20 says The Bible opens with man in the garden of Eden
in happiness and contentment. It ends with man in the New Jerusalem where he is
happy again and contented. All of this scripture talks about the bodies of man in
heaven. I conclude then, that we will have bodies in the likeness of Adam and Jesus Christ

  20. Revelations tells us we will eat from the tree of life in heaven. But more important, is the fact that we can and will go to heaven. The Holy Spirit convicts us before we choose faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, then it is up to us to believe in the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ and his Gospel of faith in Romans 10: 9-10. God is sure to greet us at the door because He has prepared a place for us. I was wondering if anyone has read about where our heavenly home, Jerusalem will be? Thanks!

  21. Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.

Rev 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

  22. Hi John..you said that we will have celestial bodies when we go to heaven. Here is a scripture that tells us more about what we will look like when we die. Job 25″For I know my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth; 26And after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my FLESH… I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see on my side, and “MY EYES SHALL BEHOLD…” and not another. My heart faints within me!”
The question is what does “my flesh” mean? The answer is that even if we construe it as
    w i t h o u t…my flesh,
(which is not linguistically legitimate) the following verse, “MY EYE SHALL BEHOLD”
makes mention of the possession and use of a body after death.
This information is from the Harper Study Bible

    1. hi rita,..as per my earlier comment about when we ignore the words of jesus himself to “then” continue to “seek” the answer that we “want”, instead, i reiterate, of what jesus himself says, to “try” to find “our answer” not his, by running, here, there, and then the other place,…then, we will find what we want. it doesn’t mean what we find,…will be true. accurate. correct,….or,..rightEOUS……….

WHEN WE DO NOT LEARN THE ABC’S AND 1,2,3,’s (BASIC MATH) OF THE WORDS OF JESUS IN THE GOSPELS,………….IT MAY BE IN OUR BEST INTEREST TO “NOT” TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ADVANCED CALCULUS OF THE BOOK OF THE REVELATION MEANS…………..without knowing 2+2………..revelation can be viewed as an obscurity. i have seen this happen over and ever and over again,……….much to the dismay of those who (continue to) do so…………your quote rita, ” I conclude then, that we will have bodies in the likeness of Adam and Jesus Christ”…………now rita,….JESUS’ QUOTE,..”Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the Power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in Heaven.”

I ASK YOU RITA,….WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE TO “CONCLUDE/BELIEVE????? THIS IS ONLY A “TRICK” QUESTION,…”IF” YOU DENY THE “TRUE” ANSWER…………….AGAIN,…WHAT DOES JESUS SAY??????

      1. Regarding “soul sleep,” I think of passages such as 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, which describe believers being resurrected and given glorified bodies. While the souls/spirits of believers go to be with Christ immediately after death,
the physical body remains in the grave “sleeping.” At the resurrection of believers, the physical body is resurrected, glorified, and then reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit will be the possession of believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21-22).

        JOHN..
the above is what Joe has written. He said “The physical body is resurrected, glorified, and then reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit
will e the possession of believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth.
        Revelation 21-22.
John, do you deny what Joe has written? You said I am flipping around in the
scriptures. Well, yes, I do read and write all the scriptures. It is the whole Bible
that increases our wisdom and which the Holy Spirit teaches us to learn from.
PHILIPPIANS 3:20-21 “BUT OUR COMMONWEALTH IS IN HEAVEN, AND FROM IT WE AWAIT A SAVIOR, THE lORD JESUS CHRIST!! 21 WHO WILL CHANGE OUR LOWLY BODIES TO BE LIKE HIS GLORIOUS BODY, BY THE POWER WHICH ENABLES HIM EVEN TO SUBJECT ALL THINGS TO HIMSELF.”
1Corinthians 15:42 Notes from the Bible
The resurrection body has been the subject of much discussion. Scripture teaches that is is a body analogous in some respects to the EARTHLY BODY, but with this major
difference; the corruption and mortality attached to the mortal body as a consequence of sin will be removed. We will become an immortal incorruptible perfected body without any of the limitations imposed by the fall, and as far superior to the moral body as the grown wheat plant is superior to the seed from which it has sprung.

So, I agree with Joe. We will be glorified bodies, immortal incorruptible perfected bodies without any limitations.

  23. PERHAPS I COULD (SHOULD I???) ASK WHY YOU ARE SO DETERMINED TO KEEP AND “STILL HAVE” YOUR BODY???? i, for one, could care less where my physical body is when it dies,………

  24. Are you asking me this? Ask Joe. He has already responded and so have I. This topic is “Where do we go when we die?”

  25. Hi Rita, my Blog name Freedomborn was given to me by God both for Blogging and commenting, my Birth name Anne comes from Hannah in Hebrew and means grace but my Mom and a lot of my friends call me Annie also from Hanna, the same as Anna and other names like Chanah etc. Annie is also my Pen name and Melody as well. You probably know that Rita is a short form of Margareta in Spanish and in the Greek, is Margret which means pearl but Rita is now also a independent name.

Some time ago Rita, I found I was very confused about all the differant teaching and so I went to God, it has detail which I will Post about soon on our Blog but to condense, He told me if I lacked His wisdom to ask and He would give it to me and as we are not Born with His wisdom I knew I wanted it with all my heart so I asked and received it, see link below…

As woman we are very blessed, it is a very High calling to be a Man’s helpmate physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually both by encouragement and support and in sharing God’s Truth. As we submit to God’s Authority it is shown by our respect and submission to the Men who God has placed in Authority and Leadership over us, what a awesome blessing that is for us as woman, being protected and cherished as a gift from God and to be Ministered to sacrificially by them.

I find Pastor Joe and John on this Blog share much Truth, but as Pastor Joe is the Author of the Blog and at this time is also chosen by God to be the Shepherd of this flock under His Authority and Teaching, Ron, who will visit Pastor Joe soon and I have chosen to be under his Leadership but of course there are others we can learn from and share with in this Blog Congregation but as yet we have not had time to get to know them but look forward to doing so.

Jesus as John shared is our only Teacher by the empowering of The Holy Spirit and as His Body we are His Hands, Arms, Feet and Voice and it is in Him and through Him we Minister in Love to each other in the anointing and gifting and within the role He has given us and when we are faithful we will be contented and have deep inner Joy regardless of the circumstances.

I will continue Rita on how we understand the Scripturesin my next Comment.

    Christian Love Anne

  26. Hi Ann.. I do not get involved with a lot of wordpress blogs. I really only follow Pastor Joe’s Blog. There are certain teachings that I also teach and minister to others. My pastor was and is a woman..some might be offended by that. But the women in the Bible were strong and worshiped Jesus Christ as their savior and friend. I like to discuss scripture and I do not purport to know as much of the bible as I would like to know. I am guided by the Holy Spirit and it is through prayer find answers to many of my questions. I hope to help others by the experiences I have had in life and I know the healing power of God in all things. I witness to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for saving me and for walking with me through the fires of death. I am here because I was called and chose my Lord, Savior Jesus Christ.

    1. Hi Rita my name is Anne not Ann although derived from Hannah too it is not my Birth name and has no other meaning for me, it would be like me calling you Rit, but you are not the first to make this mistake. Pastor Ed who was my first Pastor and a wonderful caring man, we are all still very good friends including his Loving wife and children, mistakenly forgot to put the e on my name when doing the Church News Letters, I reminded him a few times but he kept forgetting, so I said how would you like it if I left the Ed off your name you would be called d , we both laughed and he never forgot again.

To understand the Scriptures Rita we need to read very carefully 1Corinthians2, if we have the mind of Christ and His wisdom we understand God’s Truth in the Scriptures. He tells us if we ask for His wisdom He will give it to us see Link from last comment but we must not doubt we have received it, Jesus as I said is our only Teacher and will lead us into all Truth.

1John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is Truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

Colossians 2 :2 -3 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in Love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

1John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is True, and we are in Him that is True, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the True God, and eternal life.

John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.(KJV)

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)

      Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you shall go.
I will guide you with Mine eye.

As for woman in Authority over men as Preaches including Elders etc, God’s word is very clear it is not their role, which the Christian woman in the early Church accepted and obeyed even those who prophesied, to speak in the Greek meant to Preach or Teach and this was with Authority over men as shown in 1Timothy2:12. God tells us that men who support woman’s Ordination are to be ignored, because they are in error. 1 Corinthians 14: 37- 38.

Deborah God’s anointed Judge who spoke His Truth as He empowered her, shows this to be True, she was under God’s Authority and her husbands, she rebuked Barak for wanting her to be in Leadership with him, please read the full account of Deborah and you will see, she understood clearly it was not her role and even called herself Mother and this is always the submissive role, also people came to her to hear God’s Truth she did not Teach in the Temple.

      Christian Love – Anne

      1. Anne, I am an independent woman. i do not attend any church. i prefer to minister through my friends in need of healing and their friends. I have been to just about every church. since I am
older, I have no need for socialization and the rules set forth in these churches. Many churches now demand you are baptized in their church. Even if you have been baptized before, evidently
their church has a better baptism. All this is posturing and does not in any way show someone who desires to become a christian the only way to salvation. Baptism does not save anyone. Baptism is through the Holy Spirit. Christ was baptized by the Holy Spirit and a person wanted to be saved by faith, and belief in Jesus Christ will be baptized into Jesus, not a church.
I do not believe in women being submissive to any man, only God. God is the alpha and the omega and we are to begin our day with Him and end our day with him in prayer.
So, with that thought, I will say goodbye. I do not intend to respond again. God willing
you will understand the role of women in this world. Many blessings to you and your family
My pastor was someone who saved me from the devil and his legions and she was
a woman. I cannot see her anymore, except by e mail and she has built a huge church
and travels world wide to preach Jesus Christ as our Savior.

        1. Rita as you have had your final word then so will I to you, regardless of which Church you go to or don’t go to, if you are in Christ Jesus you are part of the Body of Christ and are to submit to God’s guidelines the same as men, both are to learn in quietness and submission within their role as Jesus teaches us His Truth, we are one in Christ Jesus in the Body, Jesus is the head but our submission and obedience as woman to Him our Spiritual Husband is shown by our submission and obedience to our earthly husbands and to those men who God has placed in Authority over us. Men’s submission is shown by their obedience to God’s guidelines in their Leadership roles in their families and Church or work and also to those who have Authority over them.

This does not mean we cannot rebuke those who sin in the Church or correct error and warn when needed, we are all called to obey this guideline and if we Love others we will but it must be within our role and in Love and for Love, with respect and with God’s anointing and Leading and with His wisdom and empowering shown by His Truth as confirmed in His inspired written word.

As for Baptism Rita, I’m willing to share again about this if wanted, please advise, if not then it is also goodbye, take care, you are indeed a person of worth or Jesus would not of died for you.

          Christian Love Anne.

          1. I hear the word submission many times in your comment. I am a Child of God, part of the body of Christ, and the only one I submit to is God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I do not obey man or submit to any ancient rights man decides I must follow. There is no man on earth that can make anyone obey Christian teachings. I am a Bible historian and i feel my gift is to heal. You I am sure have your ways and I have mine. If you would like to look up the Pastor I spoke of who was my pastor 10 years ago, go to Facebook, and Search Vivien Thomas. You might learn something about the powerful women called Pray Warriors and what their place is within their church. Go in peace.

            1. Ladies, while you may be feeling frustrated with each other, I have enjoyed watching this conversation as it progressed (my perception has been different than yours). I believe it is important we know what we believe and why. I think we all should be like the Bereans in all areas of theology and “search the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things are true” (Acts 17:10-11). Then we must be firmly persuaded in our own minds of what we believe. Of those things of which God has given us limited knowledge, we must above all else exercise love and acceptance.

Please read my short post: https://joequatronejr.wordpress.com/2011/08/09/relativism/. It is not exactly what you are discussing, but it may shed some light on the issue.

I love both of you as my sisters in Christ!

              Joe

  27. Thanks Joe. I find it interesting that someone wants to persuade others to believer like they do. There are many churches that teach submission. We are all different from different backgrounds and as such, have personal experiences with religion, church and beliefs. The Bible is clear to some people, but not to all. The Old Testament Law is taught in some churches. I preach the New Testament and read the Old Testament for wisdom and learning. God bless you Joe!!

  28. OK,….THIS HAS GOTTEN WAY OUT OF HAND,….AND IT IS TIME FOR IT TO STOP!!!!!!!!!

how EXACTLY would “i” stop it????????? fact is,…I CAN’T!!!!!!

SO,………..what i will do is this. i WILL APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING.

but i tell you this as well…….i will be sharing more in a while. whether what i share or not, i s taken in an encouraging way,…is up to us, as individuals. the petty arguing and fighting is ridiculous. you may have noticed that i stopped commenting yesterday when i saw this verbal escalation getting out of hand. joe commented this morning, with implied humor. and i apologize to joe now as well………..

did i say there is no resurrection??? no, i didn’t………not in the way in which my words were taken, anyway.

AGAIN,….I SERIOUSLY APOLOGIZE AT THIS MOMENT. we have displayed our lovely abundance of scriptural knowledge,…..TO THE POINT OF FORGETTING OR MERELY BEING BLINDED BY OUR OWN CHILDISH PRIDE?????? specks and motes…………..

FROM WHERE DO WARS STEM FROM “AMONG” US???????????????

    i remember why i stopped writing…………..

    yes…..i am VERY SORRY……………….

  29. THIS IS “MY” STUDY WORD FOR THE DAY,………..HYPOCRITE
    hyp·o·crite Noun /ˈhipəˌkrit/
    Synonyms:
    adjective: hypocritical, INSINCERE, TWO-FACED (DOUBLE MINDED) {JAMES 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.}
noun: DISSEMBLER, (ONE CAUSING DISUNITY) PHARISEE (self proclaimed TEACHER OR LEADER)
    hypocrites plural
A person who “indulges” in hypocrisy……………..
a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he (or she) does not hold in order to conceal his (or her) real feelings or motives
(hypocritical) professing feelings or virtues one does not have; “hypocritical praise”

Hypocrisy is the act of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the DECEPTION of others and is thus a KIND OF LIE.

Someone (male or female) who practices hypocrisy, who pretends to hold beliefs, or whose actions are “not consistent” with their claimed beliefs.

(HYPOCRITES) (Greek for “One who plays a part”): The classical Athenian word for an actor.

(hypocrites) people who say they believe one thing but actually believe in the opposite

(Hypocritical) Not practising what you preach.
(hypocritical) (adj) – pretending to be virtuous, deceiving

A person who confuses his (or her) false self with his (or her) true self and brands you a hypocrite if you call him (or her) on it.

One who puts on a mask and feigns himself (or herself) to be what he (or she) is not; a dissembler in religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy (Mat 6:2, Mat 6:5, Mat 6:16). “The hypocrite’s hope shall perish” (Job 8:13). …

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, (“good deeds”, praying, preaching, teaching, healing, etc,..) do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, (IN PUBLIC, SUCH AS BLOGS, OR COMMENTS THEREIN) that they may have glory of men (or women). (OF ANY MAN, or woman) Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

    MAT 6:5
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men (or women). Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

    MAT 6:16
16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

    JOB 8:13
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:

one who, professing virtues that he (or she) does not respect, “SECURES THE ADVANTAGE” of seeming to be what he (or she) despises.

somebody who gives a false appearance of having admirable principles, beliefs, or feelings

A person who appears to talk better than he (or she) lives.

One who pretends to be something he (or she),…is not.

  30. AND THE REST OF JAMES AS WELL………..I AM MAKING SURE THAT MY CONSCIENCE IS ALIGNED WITH WHAT IS WRITTEN HERE………………….as pride is a very deadly sin,….FOR ALL OF US…………….

    James 1
    King James Version (KJV)
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

    2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

    AND ALSO PROVERBS……….

King James Version (KJV) PROVERBS 12 :1-14

1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.

  31. Hi Pastor Joe, no I was not frustrated with Rita, it is good for us to reason together but of course not argue about worldly understanding. I felt Rita needed to express her feelings and I respected this need but still shared God’s Truth. I was sad that she could not accept the Truth of the Scriptures, but there was a time in my life that I was the same, I had been very abused by men.

I remember the first time as a new believer that I heard that I had to submit to Ron as my husband, excuse me I thought what am I a door mat now… NO WAY! I’m not inferior to anyone, I bet a man made that one up! grrrrr but I learnt that my submission needs to come from Love and not be forced, the same as our submission to God, it is because we Love Him that we want to obey His guidelines not because we have to, and His direction is always for our good and will uplift us if obeyed.

Jesus our only Teacher uses us His Body to share His Truth in Love and we do so with the empowering of the Holy Spirit and with His wisdom, if we have differences we are to bring them to God not just agree to disagree, this never works and it is why we have so many differant Denominations and Cults, God brings Unity not division. Jesus warned us that His Truth and we too will be rejected by most the same as His message and He was. Jesus does not Teach error and nor do we when we have His wisdom and share what He confirms in His inspired written word and we need to know His Truth so we can be set free. As you said Pastor Joe there is only one Truth and this is Truth because The Holy Spirit does not say one thing to one person and something differant to another when they conflict.

    Blog Post – http://freedomborn.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/the-gaining-of-wisdom/

There are two types of Pride in the Scriptures Fleshy and Godly, have you ever done a study on them Pastor Joe ? I will share some Scripture with you later today, perhaps you will be lead at some time to bring your light to others with them, if you have done so already could we please have the link.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne

      1. Hi Pastor Joe, thank you for sharing those messages, there was a lot of Truth in them, they caused me to ponder and yes Scripture is always our confirmation. I have been very surprised and saddened by those who attack when God’s Truth is shared, as you said if it’s man’s logic, understanding, and reasoning, all of which I have also been guilty of, then their can be error and when people reject Scripture because it does not agree with their own agenda then they have indeed got a hard heart, we are never to rely on what we think or what others teach us without testing their spirit. Jesus is our only Teacher what He shows us comes first and will be confirmed in His inspired written word, we can only understand the Truth of Scripture with His Spiritual eyes.

I do not believe that it is Love to see someone sinning and not rebuke them and warn them they are in danger I’m very thankful my Christian friends did so in Love and for Love when I was in sinning, but if our attitude is like you shared Pastor Joe because we think we are a better person, then we will indeed rot in our own sin of fleshy pride and if we also point our finger at others shortcomings and weaknesses, then it is a reflection of ourselves but we are still to stand up for God’s Truth even if rejected.

God tells us in Scripture ( see below ) that His does not plan or cause us to suffer or have hardship but He knows we will and strengthens us through it when we seek Him. Yes once again as you shared, He will let us reap what we sow if we choose to rebel and disobey, I did and hurt God others and myself greatly, it’s His discipline but we choose it and we have all fallen short of the glory of God. We have chosen evil just like the Prodigal son, but look how eagerly the Father waited for him to return and what a greeting! did you notice how humble and repentant the son was when he came to his senses, yes he was dead in his sin and even after having been in his Fathers house, he walked away into sin and decay, but who remained in his heart, his needs were great but he knew His Father would provide them and so he was restored as a dependant, trusting, obedient child. Man looks on the outside God looks on the heart.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

I will return in referance to pride – Christian Love from us both.

  32. I wanted to share a part of my life where I was homeless and lost everything. This often happens to many people in the United States because of the economy, lost jobs, divorce, natural disasters and a whole lot of pain in this old world. I was among those who lost family and was thrown into a life of homeless through fraud, identity theft, foreclosure. These things happen for a reason for many of us. It is God calling us to the Kingdom of Christ. This call sometimes takes years because our lives need cleansing. God walks with us and talks to us during these times of turmoil and peril and danger. I should have been killed many times, but God had a better plan for. He used people to keep Satan away. Many men wanted to hurt me and because I was under the wings of an angel and protected thereby, I walked through the valley of death. My pastor kept me in the her church to pray. We went to meetings and worked to help the less fortunate. She kept me in her prayers every single day until God called my daughter who gave me money to live alone. I found work, worked for $5.00 an hour in a huge restaurant and had to leave 2 years later because of the pain in my body. I lost my job and was being evicted. I was facing homelessness once again. I heard a name of an old friend and I call him and lived with him for one year. My daughter called me again and brought me home. During this time, another friend that turned out to be the same as all the other men who abuse women and want nothing better than to turn women down. He came to my house, and asked me if I had heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I said “no I have not.” He opened the Bible and read the Gospel and I said “yes, I do believe Jesus Christ died for me, and was resurrected. I read the chapter in Romans. After about a month, I went to every book store and bought every book on the scriptures, God, Paul, and many more. I opened my new Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to open the scriptures to me. He did, and i am fairly well versed in the scriptures. I am proud of what God has done for me and who I am today. I would rather have Jesus Christ, God and the Holy Spirit than any friend or man in my life.
I learned the Bible and now we women have a Prayer Group, called Prayer Warriors ..I have seen people healed through our prayers many, many times. This life is fleeting. We are to do the work of servants to those that need help. I would rather be poor and have God, my Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, than any man, home, car or any other modern convenience which I do not have. This is my witness and my testimony.
If you are interesting in me or my writing, go to Amazon.com/Kindle and read my book. You will see my testimony and my witness to God in this book. God has written this book while I typed it and put it into print on Kindle. Thanks everyone, have a wonder ful summer!! Remember prayer heals all wounds..

    1. Thank you for sharing so honestly Rita, I’m sorry that you have suffered and been abused, I too have had a hard life (see link below) and I have known much abuse and suffering, some of which I brought on myself . God can use anything to bring us to an awareness of Him but it is His Truth that brings us to True heart repentance, faith comes by hearing The Word and The Word is Truth, Jesus is The Living Word and , He is The Truth, when He knocks at our heart door are we ready to repent and turn from evil and do good… yes we will be, because He knew us from eternity and so He knows when we are ready and then He knocks. He can even melt a hard heart with His Love and the same as with a confused or deceived person, He will lead them to His Truth, God keeps us in His view always, He knows His heart children, we don’t and so we share the Hope we have in Jesus with everybody.

      Blog Post – http://freedomborn.wordpress.com/2011/09/27/the-early-years-a-little-lost-girl/

God brought me to a Adult understanding of Him when I was living in sin with Ron and He used Ron to do so, it is a long story and one I haven’t told yet on our Blog so there is no link . We cannot earn our Salvation but we will show we have it in our words and actions, this may be a long time after we have come to a head understanding of God but as we seek Him with all our being, our eyes will be opened and our heart will respond to the Love He has put there.

May you be greatly blessed Rita – Christian Love Anne

  33. Hi!! Reality of Christ! What is this Blogger Commentor Award? I would like to hear more about it.

  34. Finally Pastor Joe as promised, we are to have true humility and Love and respect for others concidering them better then us, meaning we are willing to serve them, yes wash their feet but we can’t do this in the flesh it is impossiable that is why it has to be put to death, and we can’t Love God or others without His empowering .

We are to have Godly Pride not wordly pride, to take Pride in our position in Christ Jesus and value others as people of worth who Jesus died for, even knowing those who would reject Him.

There are two types of Pride, Godly Pride and worldly or fleshy pride.

    What Worldly pride is…

Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

1 John 2:15- 17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

    What Godly Pride is …

Galatians 6: 4 Each one should understand their own actions. Then they can take Pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to others.

2 Corinthians 8:24 show these men the proof of your Love and the reason for our Pride in you, so that the Churches can see it.

2 Corinthians 5:11-12 Because we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. It is plain to God what we are, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are giving you an opportunity to take Pride in us not trying to commend ourselves again to you , so that you have an answer for those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

Romans 11:13b I take Pride in my Ministry.

As a Christian I also take Godly Pride in my Ministry to those who are in darkness, and rejoice with those who are not, as I’m sure you do too Pastor Joe.

Take Care – Christian Love from both of us – Anne

    1. 2 Corinthians 6: “Working together wit him, then we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in
vane. For he says, “At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day
      of salvation.”
Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold now is the day of salvation. 3 We put no obstacle in any one’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry (Paul speaking to the Corinthians)
but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way; through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors, watching, hunger; by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love, truthful speech, and the power of God. When we become children of God, we are also given gifts. When I heard God say to me “ministry” I waited. It was a long time before my ministry came forth. But with the internet, we are able to become true children working for the healing of other, in mind, body and spirit. God gives us the work, and we as servants obey Him.

  35. it is too easy to get into a game of ping pong using God’s words as the ball. the apostle paul sums it up well when he says if i do this or do that, yet have not love???????? he then, without love becomes a clanging cymbal……a clanging cymbal, is not,…..A JOYOUS NOISE.

we are to NOT BE DRUNKEN WITH THE WINE (NEW OR OLD) WHEREIN LIES EXCESS (GLUTTONY),…..YET, RATHER, WE ARE TO BE “FILLED” WITH THE (GOD’S HOLY) SPIRIT…..

TWO DISTINCTIONS,…..DRUNKEN,……….FILLED,……….DRUNKEN IMPLIES THAT OUR “CARNAL” MINDS ARE JACKED UP,………………..FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT IMPLIES THAT OUR “ATTITUDE” IS GODLY!!!!!!!!……………………KIND OF COOL, HUH??????

    1. First of all thanks be to God and what a wonderful strong faith you have in Jesus name. I was never very good at ping pong however…… here goes . To fully understand the perils of alcohol and making decisions, especially important ones on Jesus’ behalf requires a sober mind not intoxicated with strong wine , active psychotic drugs or any bias (paranoid) thought that may cloud the judgement. Alcohol tends more to lean on our own understanding rather than the Lord. You either drink or you don’t ,for it or against it. ”What is one man’s meat is another man’s poison”. A wise old preacher once wrote. ”Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise” .Proverbs 20:1. God spoke to Aaron concerning being holy unto God, “8 And the Lord spoke unto Aaron, saying,9 “Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die. It shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations,10 that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean”,Leviticus 10:8-10. .I think this is the difference and part of the factor in drinking alcohol for Christ centred Christians and to abstain..Letting the bible and the word of the lord speak simple for itself. I think it is a factor in being holy and unholy, clean and unclean. Even though the levites have been obsolete for since the days of the lost tribes of Israel. Christ our Melchizedek (One having no mother or father) a king of Salem = Jerusalem and priest of the most high God. “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he was the priest of the Most High God”.Genesis 14:18. What type of wine was being used in this instance?
To cut to the chase, our Christ is in the order of Melchizedek(an higher order than the levites) a prophet, priest and king forever Hebrews 7. Therefore, if Jesus the Christ saves us through His grace and His righteousness covers our sins. should n’t Christ followers walk in the lord Jesus character?
That character of being a higher order than the Levites who were subjected to that human thing of dying and ordered by God to abstain from the mockers wine and strong drink. The character of eternal life would now subject himself to drinking the mockers wine and disobey the very word of God?
Christ followers are meant to be holy and a royal priesthood .The Apostle Peter says, “Therefore laying aside all malice and all guile, and hypocrisy and envy and all evil speaking,2 as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby,3 if so it be that ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.4 Coming to Him as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,5 ye also as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture: “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious; and he that believeth in Him shall not be confounded.”7 Unto you therefore who believe, He is precious; but unto those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,”8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,” even to those who stumble at the Word, being disobedient, unto which also they were appointed.9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”. Yes that right , we are called out in to his marvellous Melchizedek holy, royal priesthood light.

It is very hard to be holy if it is impossible to quit an addiction. Seek, knock, ask and it shall be answered Jesus will be right there with you. Unless you can call, healing the sick, blind and deaf , worshipping God and praying an addiction Our prophet priest and king had no earthly, sinful addictions that would condemn Him. Anyone one who came to Jesus would be condemned.to a life of sin,So what harm is there in following our Saviour of mankind ,psalms 25:18. Mark 3:28.Colossians 2:13. 1John1:9. Hebrews 7:25.
All stumble when it come to alcohol please do not let this be a stumbling block to those who want to obedient to the Lord

      1. WOW, OUTPOURINGS!!!…….IF I BELIEVED IN BLOG COMMENTING AWARDS, YOU WOULD GET IT HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!! LOL, IN A GOOD WAY!!!!!!!!!!

BUSY AT MOMENT, BUT I’LL WRITE MORE LATER, OK??????

BUT FOR NOW, I’D LIKE TO SAY THAT THE SCRIPTURE, “BE DRUNKEN NOT WITH THE WINE, WHEREIN LIES EXCESS, BUT RATHER, BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT”,….IS “NOT” ABOUT CONSUMING ANY FERMENTED “LITERAL” DRINK,….(it’s a metaphor/parable type thing)………..although i absolutely love what you shared!!!!!!!! you put a lot into it, and i think that is great!!!!!!

back asap! thanks so much again!!!!!!!!!

  36. Pastor Joe, I sent part of your article on Pride to someone we both know with the initials J. F. He has e mailed me over and over and keeps asking why we are not to judge others. In his blog he continues to judge everyone. If I say something that may help him understand why God asks us not to judge each other he continues to tell me that I am judging him. He has told you this when you make a comment. He deletes all comments he does not like.

Question: Can you tell me, who we can judge and for what reasons and I will pass this on and hoe for the best. I always feel it is a terrible thing when a soul is lost and would want to help the person to come back into the fold. I know some cannot come back..but I feel sorry for him.

    1. HI THERE RITA,….YOU MAY FIND SOME HELPFUL THINGS IN THE STORY WHERE JESUS VISITED MARY AND MARTHA………..if nothin else,…it’s worth a read!!!! hope this is helpful!!! have a good evening!!!!

  37. Joe…I forgot to ask you for the scriptures on judging others and could you explain them to me, so I can pass them along.. Thank you,

  38. Wow! All that complicated view of God and life and love. I am a simple believer who believes that God is love. God is the kindness and love I see in others. I live a simple life based on that and know God is not going to leave me. However, my one thought that is often with me is that, we are told if we are Christians and believe in Jesus that we will go to heaven. But what happens to those other good people in the world wko believe in other prophets and live good lives? Do they get sent somewhere else because they don’t believe in Christianity? All religions that I have read about believe in a supreme being, the one I call God. I’m wondering if that is what we have to believe in so that we are all equal and be sent to that good place after we die. I would like to think that is what happens for all the good peoples who have ever lived. Thanks for your great writings. C

    1. Christians believe the Bible. The Bible was written by God. There are laws in the Old Testament and there are covenants. God is specific in his ten commandments on obedience. The New Testament is the Good News. That Good News is given to Paul, the apostle to give to us, the Gentiles and to the Jews. Scripture proves that there is a savior. Read the Gospel of Mark, John, Luke and Matthew in the New Testament. These Gospels will describe Jesus life on earth and what he came to earth and died on earth and why he was ressurected. We are sinners in need of a savior to save us from hell. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin in the Garden of Eden, we are born with sin. Our savior, Jesus Christ came down from heaven to die for us so our sins may be forgiven. He had to die and break the bonds Satan holds over unbelievers. Until we believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Romans 10:9-10, we are blind to the truth of our Lord and Savior and the Bible.
Romans 10:9 “Because if you confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart, God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” It is not until you read this scripture or hear this scripture, as in church and many say feel repentance..but the Bible is clear that you must believe in jesus Christ as your Savior and believe His gospel, that He lived, died, and was ressurected, can you enter heaven. Nobody gets into heaven by being good, because the
scriptures tell us that unless we are believers in Jesus Christ, we do not and cannot please God.
      Any other questions, just ask.

      1. In that case some of us are more equal than others. My simple soul tells me that God would not be so selfish as to let only a minority of people go to heaven and everybody else go to hell -not the God who is my FRIEND, not the God who sent his only Son to die for us, not the the Jesus who said ‘love one another as I have loved you’ Thank you for your reply. I will continue to love ALL the world’s people and pray for them. C

        1. John 16:8. The Holy Spirit awakens you in a previously unknown interest in spiritual things and creates a desire for those spiritual things that you never felt before. When you pray the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Romans 10: 9-10 and tell Jesus Christ you believe He is the Son of God, He died, was buried and resurrected, your eyes are opened and your heart is inclined toward Jesus Christ and Hi Words from the bible begin to hold a facination for you that is new and exciting..
Your spirit begins to discern spiritual truth that never made any sense to you before.
1 Cor 2:13 “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit
of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
Finally God puts in you a new desire to know Him, to obey Him, and to wlk in “the newsness of life”..Romans 6:4. This is the word of the Lord, the Gospel of Jesus Christ where we become born again, and Children of the Lord Almighty.
pray to Jesus Christ and to the Holy Spirit

    2. Thanks youngcreation. I’m wondering what is your definition of a Christian? Or to put it differently, what does it mean to believe in Jesus?

      1. I pray that before the rapture that we in American join hands and sing God’s praises, believe in grace, and Jesus Christ and the meaning of his death on cross for us for the forgiveness of our sins. I pray that we all read and understand the Bible and all are born again.. I pray that we all find our Savior and He is more important in our lives than the world, and that we all come together in peace and understanding once and for all. The millions of people in America can turn this country around and stop poverty! I pray that we can think with a Christian heart and love our fellowman, no matter what his nationality might be and help each other during times of disaster, prosperity and devote ourselves to God whose hand has made all this happen for us,. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the reason we live and are saved. We need to be strong in faith and spirit. I have seen many people on television who are reaching out to help the downtrodden, the poor in spirit. This blog that Joe has written is an example of what man can do to help others. May peace be with us.

        1. Hello morethancurious!!!! How are you???

First,…I gotta tell ya,…my name “is not” really “john doe!!!” lol! You probably guessed that already, huh??? Ok,…so here’s a tad about me, and there is a reason that I am writing this now, ok???
I have no idea if you are “male or female”, nor does it matter,…as “people are people”, correct???
Now,…As to WHY “I, MYSELF” am writing to YOU now????? Well, that has to do with Joe, himself.
I’ll explain. You see, this is the “first time” that I have been “INTRODUCED”, to any and all people, like yourself, who have come here with questions or comments.
You’ll understand in a second, I promise. lol

Anyway,…Joe is “not only“, my “brother”,…he is also my “friend.” (although he used to think that I was a serial killer! lol Inside joke there, sorry!) when I first read the things which Joe shares on his blog here, he (and his writings) reminded me very much of myself…….dare I use the term “kindred spirits???”

We, Joe and I, have similar interests,…and a “somewhat” similar past. But, that said, we are also very different,…as we all are as humans…and that is totally ok!!!
We can all bring a little somethin different to the “family get together table” this way!!! Variety really can be the spice of life! so,…movin right along now………

As for me,…I like to laugh. l like to be happy. I like to have peace,…as I need peace.
I say this because it is so difficult, many times, on the good old internet, to really get an “accurate, or a, good vibe” on who we are. I mean,…other than the black and white of our words, ya know??? As for why I am tellin you “about me???”
I am just another human, but, I want you to know that I take what is written in the bible very seriously!!! In a good and joyous way!!!

Not in a “religious” kind of way! meaning,…the words in the bible have helped me to understand “me” more than ever before, as well as, understand “myself” more every day!
IN OTHER WORDS, MY LIFE “ACTUALLY” HAS “LIFE” TO IT NOW!!!
That said,…I share what I “see” in The Bible, as well as my thoughts concerning what is inside,…IN A “TOTALLY” DIFFERENT WAY (for the most part! lol) THAN THE WAY IN WHICH JOE DOES!!! LOL!

The saying “DIFFERENT STROKES, FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS” comes to mind here and now…

          I SAID THAT,…TO SAY THIS,…

JOE and I have ONLY SPOKEN ONCE ON THE PHONE. We have emailed back forth as well…
We have also SPOKEN OPENLY on his BLOG,………and every now and then, we communicate on mine. (actually Joe just makes fun of me!!!!! lol which is a good thing,….when it’s done in love!!!!!! Right Joe!!!!!!) In other words,…we are “both” able to keep a lighthearted attitude with each other! This is so crucial! Especially to “the Body of Christ!”

YOU SEE, TO ME, THE FACT IS THIS,………WE ARE NOT BLOGGING AND WRITING ABOUT WHY WE THINK THAT “TENNIS SHOES ARE BETTER THAN BOOTS!!!!!” WE WRITE AND SHARE WORDS, AND ABOUT THINGS WE “SEE”, AND ABOUT THINGS WE HAVE LEARNED,…CONCERNING WHAT WE BELIEVE TO BE THE DIVINELY INSPIRED WRITTEN WORD OF GOD. As I just wrote these words, I let myself re-read them before continuing…………….

In the first “Spiderman” movie, there is a line which is,…”WITH GREAT POWER, COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY.”

As for myself,…I do “MY BEST” to CAREFULLY WEIGH and MEASURE WHAT I SHARE.
Although there have been times that I have failed, the “true power” is in the attitude, or spirit, with which these words are shared…
It “could be” easy for someone to “think/perceive” that I am at times, “uncaring,” this could not be farther from the fact of the matter, though…………….

(Speaking for “ONLY MYSELF”here, NOT JOE, as I AM the ONE SHARING THIS,…and Joe is just a “tad” like me, he will explain himself “whenever” he feels that he needs to,…and this, Joe does quite nicely! lol but seriously!!! k????)

I say this because, “if and when”, what, “I”, share is read “out of context”, especially when “what” I have written is “voiced” as a comment as to what another has shared, “ESPECIALLY IF I FEEL THAT IT IS “NON SCRIPTURAL”, meaning, “voiced/spoken” in a manner which will cause “others” to stumble and or be deceived,…thus hurting those, that not only Joe and I care about, but more importantly, “those” who GOD LOVES and CARES ABOUT. Then “I DO ADMIT” that “I MAY” come across as harsh.
As I said earlier,…I like to laugh,…and I like to have joy,…and I especially like peace!
          Anyway,…movin along again. lol

As I said earlier, “WITH GREAT POWER, COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY”,…..

To me, sharing GOD’S WORDS, is “THEE SINGLE GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY” that I can think of! I am very serious about this, too!
AS THESE WORDS HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE LIVES! MORE SO,…THEY HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE LIVES,… FOR THE BETTER! From darkness to light…
These are WORDS of LOVE, and HEALING, and HOPE, and FORGIVENESS, and SALVATION, and PEACE, and JOY, and FREEDOM, and FAITH, and ETC, ETC, ETC,……..rest assured, I realize this VERY, VERY WELL.
But on the other hand, “THESE WORDS“,…when USED and PRESENTED HURTFULLY,….HAVE THE POWER,…TO DESTROY!!!
I am “very aware” of this, each and every day!!!!

SO, I AM IN NO WAY PERFECT!!! I DESIRE TO GROW MORE IN MY FAITH EVERY DAY! THIS A CONSTANT STRUGGLE FOR ALL OF US.
I’ll be the first to tell you that I sometimes make mistakes. If I see something obvious, I try to make sure to apologize and or correct my “fault” as best as I may,…in doing this, also leads to my “spiritual maturity,…
Thus helping me to “move forward” in, and with my life……thus,….I AM GROWING UP!!!!!

MY DESIRE IS TO SHARE, IN AND WITH THE “HOPE” AND “INTENT” TO “ENCOURAGE”,…AND TO “STRENGTHEN”,…AND,….TO “HEAL”,……NOT TO “HURT/HARM”,………..
I have no “desire” to “DO HARM” to anyone when I wake up each day!

The SIMPLE fact is,….I TRULY CARE ABOUT EVERYONE’S “BEST, (meaning “Godly and Spiritual) INTEREST, THAT I AM SHARING,…”WHAT I WRITE” WITH!…….

And now, “another” little somethin about me is this,…I WRITE A LOT!!!??? LOL! But that’s ok with me!)

          NOW,…to the end,…

At this moment, JOE IS QUITE BUSY,…and, NOT LONG AGO, much due to his new, and large, WORK LOAD,…(along with his family life and responsibilities) JOE “ASKED ME” to HELP to “ANSWER” some of the “QUESTIONS” which are, and have been asked by those of you, here on HIS BLOG SITE.

Many “people” here,…..”ARE NOT”,…and “WERE NOT” AWARE of this,…that is,…until now. Sorry.

Perhaps (for several reasons…some obvious, some not so obvious) I “SHOULD” have said “SOMETHING” about Joe asking me to help out at an EARLIER time,…as “some people” have THOUGHT that I just “POPPED UP” here, to say whatever I have to say, (as well as what I HAVE SAID in the past)…..simply “BECAUSE” MY CABLE TV IS BROKEN!!!!!????????????? LOL,…..(but no lol!!!!!!) I assure you, this isn’t the situation……..

In other words,….Joe asked me to “help/share” here,….thus, Joe has given me “authority” to do so,……..but,……I AM SORRY that I “HAVE FAILED” TO MENTION this EARLIER. hindsight being 20/20,…..I really WISH that I WOULD HAVE said SOMETHING EARLIER.
          I am truly sorry……………….
Also, rest assured, JOE IS, and HAS BEEN, so GREAT at STEPPING UP, and in, to help me, and you, with “ANY AREA” that I “may” leave, or have left a “HOLE” in, so to speak….
He will continue to do this, I’m sure. As I myself would if the situation was reversed…”TEAMWORK” can be a “GREAT THING!”

We (Joe and I) “work together” to “share” what we have (been given) to share,……….so that “all others” may grow stronger in their faith and daily walk with Jesus. And I “truly believe” that we both desire to do this in love,…………….even with, and spite of our “idiosi?????????” uuummmmm?????? oh!!! wait!!! Here ya go!!!!

Well,……I think that sums up "Joe and me" quite well!!!

          MORE LATER………..

      2. A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ in my simple definition. I believe that Jesus is my Friend. I believe he loves. He said’ love one another as I have loved you’. I am a simple uncomplicated soul and my relationship with Jesus is a simple one . I speak to him every day in simple prayer and conversation. Jesus has said be childlike in your approach with me…. AND for me it works. I will continue to pray for all peoples on earth. Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. C

        1. I agree, youngcreation! I think we are misunderstanding each other. What is “complicated” about my article in your mind. You keep saying “simple” as if everything I wrote does not support the Bible. It is possible I misunderstand you. Please forgive me if I have. From your perception, what am I saying that is complicated?

          1. I think we believe exactly the same thing I think for me it’s just a lot to take in. And that’s why I say I’m a simple soul. It’s prabably about my ability to process. Never to doubt anything you say. I like what you write. It take me a while to read. Thank you for your thoughts C.

    3. hi there young creation,…..i dig what you wrote here!!!!!!!!!! i’m just kinda chillin right now, and groovin on what you have shared. you know, there are answers to “all” that you have just asked written in the bible. and what’s really cool,…is all of the answers are very cool answers!!! what i mean by cool is, they are all very “hopeful”,…and “HOPE FILLED LIVELY ANSWERS”……not a bunch of rigid black and white doom and gloom answers either. HOPE FAITH LOPE PEACE MERCY AND JOY,…..ARE MUCH MORE THAN COLD DEAD BLACK AND WHITE “QUICK” QUOTED BIBLE SCRIPTURE ANSWERS…………….GOD IS NOT DEAD,……..HE IS ABOUT JOYOUS ABUNDANT LIFE!!!!!!!!……..so,…..i’m gonna continue to think about what you have shared here, and i also hope and pray that i am “given” a loving and inspiring way to answer all of your questions,..(when and if i feel confident in being able to share, i will, ok??? do you know why i say this???)…and as you probably know, MANY OTHERS THINK, FEEL, AND ASK, THE SAME QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!

in closing, for now anyway,….i don’t wanna offer you some cold dead hollow, “RELIGIOUS” answers,………i want to offer you answers that inspire you and whoever else, towards a strengthened faith (including myself!!!)…………….much love to you, whoever you are! i hope to toksoon………thanks again!!!! have a good one………i’m gonna chill some more now……….

      1. Thanks. My simple soul loves LOVE,HOPE,MERCY,JOY and best of all FRIEND. God is my FRIEND. And there are quotes from the bible I love. My favourites are GOD IS LOVE and LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU and GOD HAS CREATED US IN HIS IMAGE. and because of my simple way of thinking I care about all other humanbeings on earth. I am not going to spend my life trying to get me to heaven. I know that I am going there. I believe that implicitly because GOD IS MY FRIEND and I believe in him. He has given me so much and I am so grateful. I want that for others as well. I do appreciate your taking the time to answer. I will continue to pray C

    4. ayoungcreation, The reason we become Christians is God calling us to be part of His Holy family. We give our love and faith to Jesus Christ. By our loving and believing in our Savior, Jesus Christ’s Gospel in Romans 10:9-10, we then belong to the Body of Christ and are Children of God. The Old Testament is our history. The New Testament talks about the four gospels of Jesus apostles and disciples. The Acts are the acts of the apostles. Then in Romans, the Apostle Paul brings the good new news..this is something that has never been told before. Jesus Christ has been prophesied throughout the Old Testament by his prophets, Isaiah, Malachi, Jeremiah and others
“THE COMING SAVIOR” WHY? Because Jesus Christ came to earth to teach us the ways to salvation and how to live our lives. He DIED ON THE CROSS, WHY because he was sent by God to die for our sins. To cleanse those that believed in Him.
The only way to get to heaven for all people…is by belief in Jesus Christ, that He died,
was buried, and resurrected. This is Jesus Christ Gospel. No one can get into heaven without faith in God’s son. Jesus died so we can get to heaven. We had to have this sacrifice for our souls in order to go to heaven.
Those people who do not believe in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and His death, burial and resurrection
are lost and blind to the truth of His Gospel. They could go to heaven at any time during their lives, but only if the believe in this Holy Savior and His Gospel.

All are lost and fall short of the Glory of God, unless they believe in Jesus Christ, and His gospel in Romans 10: 9-10..
Read 1 Corinthians 15:3 Apostle Paul speaking ….”For I delivered unto you first of all
      that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the
      scriptures; 5 And that He was seen of Cephas, then of the tweleve;
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater
part remain unto htis present, but some are fallen asleep. The unsaved, lost person, dies and sleeps until the Great White Throne Judgement. The saved, believer in Jesus Christ, lives in heaven and comes to the Bema Seat of Christ to live with Him during the Millennium. We have two choice. To believe in Jesus Christ and go to Heaven.
To not choose Christ and go to hell. They is no in between.

        1. Hi ayoungcreation. I hope that Wow! was a good one? I often wonder if people who read
their bibles and read the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Romans, would they choose
death and the fires of hell? Then, I know there are many who do not want to choose
at all. They are living their lives as they choose while they live, and have no concern
at all for God, or what happens to them when they die. Christ is our insurance into
heaven. He has gone to build a place for us. He wants us to live and be happy when
we come to join others and family and friends. My life changed and I became a new
person living for Christ. The feeling is like no other. He never ceases to amaze me in
his power to heal, love and his compassion for us.

            1. Yes, living with God as part of our journey is the best thing in the world! This truth is heavenly!!

            2. Joe, thank you so much. i am going to bookmark it! God bless you and your family

  39. Joe, thank you for answering this question. I meant to say that when you first posted it, yet I got wrapped up in business endeavors. I so very much appreciate you writing this blog. It is very meaningful and God uses you in a special way. Peace and blessings.

  40. Joe – This is very helpful, thanks. I especially like the way you put it: “The Bible devotes much less space to describing eternity than it does to convincing people that eternal life is available as a free gift from God.” While we want to know all the details, God sometimes only gives us enough of the picture for us to respond the right way. This helps me refocus on the most important things!

  41. Hey Joe… thought I’d jump in to the conversation to introduce myself (instead of being a “lurker” and to say “thanks” for this post. It IS a point of confusion for many… and sometimes the simple, biblical addressing of a subject like this can be SO helpful! Thanks for realizing the need and making the effort to clarify. I pray it helps many.
